Elliott Dudley Dean

     Elliott Dudley Dean was born on 13 March 1905 at Lowell, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; Shows his father born in England and mother born in Great Barrington, MA.^1,2,3 He was the son of Charles Edwin Dean and Marion E. Elliott. Elliott Dudley Dean married Mildred French on 24 January 1935 at Providence, Providence Co, Rhode Island. Elliott Dudley Dean died in November 1970 at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, Windham Co, Connecticut, at age 65.^3,4 He was buried at Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam, Windham Co, Connecticut.⁴
     Elliott attended the schools of Putnam, Connecticut and also graduated from Dean Academy in Franklin, Massachusetts.
     After graduation, Elliott went to work for his father at Lowell Needle Company, which subsequently became the Putnam Needle Company. Upon the death of his father, he was elected President and Assistant Treasurer of the corporation. Mr. Dean sold his interest in the corporation in 1954 and started a small business of his own known as the Dean Corporation, which processed phonograph needles for RCA Victor.
     In 1959, he closed that business and went to work for General Industries, Inc., a plant once owned by his grandfather, his father and his uncle.
     In 1963, Mr. Dean and several reatives, John M. Dean, William Dean Moss and Ellis K. Haines, purchased the plant from from General and formed John M. Dean, Inc. The firm manufactured pointed wire goods such as textile pins, phonograph needles, ice picks and other items for consumers.
     He had also several terms on the Putnam Board of Education, and as vice president of the Cargill Trust Company.²
