Carroll David Tryon

     Carroll David Tryon was born on 29 March 1876 at Brookdale, St Lawrence Co, New York.^1,2,3 He was the son of David Tryon and Melinda Jenkins.¹ Carroll David Tryon married Golden Phillips, daughter of Orville Deville Phillips and Kate Cornwell, on 23 June 1908 at Pamelia, Jefferson Co, New York.^4,5,3,6 Carroll David Tryon died on 29 July 1949 at Jefferson County Hospital, Watertown, Jefferson Co, New York, at age 73.³ He was buried on 1 August 1949 at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Watertown, Jefferson Co, New York.³
     Carroll Tryon was only 12 when he started working for a drug store in Tupper Lake. He graduated from the Brooklyn Institute 28 Dec 1904 and was later employed by a drug store in Malone. In 1906, he arrived in Watertown and opened his own drug store. He was owner of several stores through the course of his life until his retirement in 1945.³ He appeared on the census of 26 April 1910 at Watertown, Jefferson Co, New York; Carroll D. Tryon, 34, and wife Golden, 25.⁵ He appeared on the census of 1920 at Cadwell Street, Watertown, Jefferson Co, New York; Carroll Tryon, 43, wife Golden, 33.⁷ He appeared on the census of 1930 at Watertown, Jefferson Co, New York; Carroll D. Tryon, 49, Golda, 42, and daughter Catherine M., 8.⁴ He lived in 1944 at Watertown, Jefferson Co, New York; Carroll Tryon was still a resident of Watertown in 1944.⁸
