William Ruddick Floyd

     William Ruddick Floyd was born on 24 November 1839 at Fairfield, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.¹ He was the son of Nathaniel Floyd and Alice Bradshaw. William Ruddick Floyd married Hannah Kerr Howard, daughter of John Howard Jr and Rachel Campbell Kerr, on 30 November 1864 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; Hannah Kerr was listed as the 5th daughter of John Howard, Esq, and she and William were married by Abel H. Washburn, Hannah's brother-in-law.² William Ruddick Floyd died on 11 December 1930 at Saint John, Saint John Co, New Brunswick, at age 91; His cause of death was listed as senility at the age of 91 years and 17 days.^3,4 He was buried on 13 December 1930 at Brown's Cemetery, Fairfield, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; His stone indicates he had died 11 December 1930.^5,4
     He appeared on the census of 1891 at St Martins, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; William R. Floyd was born New Brunswick, with his father of Ireland and his mother of New Brunswick. His mother, Alice Bradshaw Floyd was living with them, and her parents were both listed as b. Nova Scotia. William's wife Hannah Howard was then aged 52, and only two children remained at home: Hannah, then aged 11, and "Eva", then aged 5. He appeared on the census of 1901 at St Martins, Saint John Co, New Brunswick; William R. Floyd, 61, wife Hannah, 62, along with daughters Evangeline, 15 and Hannah, 21.¹
