     James Price Hepburn was born on 4 July 1869 at Musquash, Saint John Co, New Brunswick.1 He was the son of Charles Hepburn and Lydia Trafton. James Price Hepburn married Elizabeth May Frasier, daughter of James Fraser and Mary Ritchie, on 29 June 1892 at Leominster, Worcester Co, Massachusetts; James Hepburn was aged 25, of Charlestown, and Elizabeth Fraser was 24, of Leominster. He was listed as an easel maker and she a cook.2,1 James Price Hepburn died on 20 May 1948 at Longwood Manor Sanitarium, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co, California, at age 78; He had been at Longwood for ten days. His residence was listed as 6210 5th Avenue, Los Angeles. James' grandson, Henry Orlan Mitchell, Jr, stated that the family didn't want to tell him about his son's death during a race, due to his frail condition. James, however, heard it on radio news. He died within a few days. Ralph and James were buried simultaneously at Forest Lawn.3,4,5 He was buried on 22 May 1948 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co, California; He was buried in Lawn Crypt 2B, Block 55, Meditation Section in 1948.6,5
     He appeared on the census of 9 June 1900 at Arlington, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts; James P. Hepburn, 33, Elizabeth M., 30, and son Ralph R., 4. They had been married 8 years, had two children, only one living.7 He appeared on the census of 10 January 1920 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co, California; James P. Hepburn, 50, Elizabeth M., 48, Violet l., 17, Cynthia M., 15, Bernice A., 11. They had come to the US in 1890.8 He appeared on the census of 7 April 1930 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co, California; James P. Hepburn, 64, Elizabeth M., 56, Violet, 28, Carl Douglas, son-in-law, 26, Bernice 22, (married 3 yrs), and grandson Jerold L, 1 8/12 and Beverly J. Johnson, granddaughter, 8.9 James filed his Declaration of Intention for natuarlization on 9 Aug 1934. He was then living at 6200 Madden Avenue, Los Angeles, California. He was then 65, with grey hair, blue eyes, weighed 130 pounds and was 5'7" tall.1 He was naturalized on 14 May 1940 at Southern District of California, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Co, California; His lawful entry for permanent residence in the US was at Vanceboro, Maine in October 1891.1
