     Geoffrey V of Anjou was born on 24 August 1113 at Anjou, France. He was the son of Fulk V of Anjou and (?) Ermengarde of Maine. Geoffrey V of Anjou married Matilda (Maud), Princess of England, daughter of Henry I Beauclerc and Edith Matilda of Scotland, on 22 May 1127 at Le Mans, Sarthe, France.1 Geoffrey V of Anjou died on 7 September 1151 at Chateau, Eure-Et-Loir, France, at age 38.
     Burke says the marriage was 3 April 1127. The name Plantagenet, came from the fact that Geoffrey bore a branch of yellow broom (planta-genistae) in his helm.
