Notes: W. D. Sherman - Born in Northhampton England. Came to United States in the early 1800s. Brickmaker by trade. He supposedly sided with the North during Civil War which angered neighbors, so he moved his family to Sampson County. Returned to homeplace after the War. Buried in Sherman family cemetary at Point Caswell, Pender County.
William married Margaret Ann Watson, daughter of William Watson and Unknown. (Margaret Ann Watson was born in 1807 in Bladen County, NC and died on 27 Jul 1885 in Pender County, NC.)
