Burial Information:
Originally Griffith was buried in the Barnhill Family Cemetery located in the woods on property located behind the fields of the Merle McKoy Place. The place was also known as the "the old Dick Lewis Place" at one time. Their daughter Melissa Jane was buried there in 1898. When Eliza Jane died in 1910, she was laid to rest here also. Hanson M. Woodcock, husband of Melissa Jane was buried there in 1913.

Headstones of all four have been moved to Woodcock Cemetery, Atkinson, NC where their decendents are buried. It is not known when moved or by whom. It is my thought that they were moved to preserve the headstones (as records) of their lives in the area, since the lands are no longer in family hands and where they were buried was overgrown and the stones were falling over.

Eliza married Griffith W. Barnhill, son of Alexander Barnhill and Darkis Phillips, on 3 May 1853 in New Hanover County, NC - Performed by J.A. Corbett. (Griffith W. Barnhill was born in Feb 1822 in New Hanover County, NC, died in 1862 in Goldsboro, Wayne County, NC and was buried in 1862 in New Hanover County, NC.)
