Will Thomas Wells H:27 " Son James 45 or 50 acres: to son William the rest of the upper 100 acres on which I live called Leason: he to pay 20 lb. to son James ,as he has all of the buildings: to son James the remainder of the lower Hundred acres on which I live called Leason: sons William & James, minors, my 2 Dau's: my five youngest children, viz.: Henry, James, Patience & Ann: Wife Ann, sole Exe'c: sons Thomas & John to care for 3 youngest sons, Test Mark Malove & Ambrose Carroll." Book N 207 13 May 1746 James Wells Son of Thomas Wells,deceased,late of Murderkill Hundred and Rebeckah the wife of the said James Wells of the one part and John Studdars of the other part.Thomas Wells,deceased,by his last will and testament bearing date 24 Jun 1731,did give & bequeath a certain part of a tract of land called LEASON,situated & bying near the town of Dover in the upper part of Murderkill Hundred bounded to the east with land lake in the possession of Wm. Collins,deceased,to the west with land which Thomas Wells left to his son John,to the south with land of Andrew Hamilton,to the North with land which said Thomas Wells left by the said will to his son William.Now whereas by the virtue of a contract made by & between the said James Wells and Henry Wells his brother for as small part of the said land left to the said James by the said will,which part is said to contain about 2 acres of land laid off to the said Henry Wells in the form of and oblong from the land of the said James. Land was never coveyed from the said James Wells to the said Henry Wells and also Henry sold the land to Waitman Sipple and never conveyde it to his and also that now the said Waitman Sipple has sold it to John Studdard and cannot convey it to him.
