John Welles, the son of James Welles & Mary (_____) [WellsHist 8, GreersVa: 159 & 350] John Welles and his wife Elizabeth (Katherine) Fletcher from the Isle of Wight were married in 1641/1644 [IGI] and were York Co.,Va. in 1657 [Filby, Nughent I-III, GreersVA: 11, Wells Hist 8] They had at least two children John jr. & James. [GreersVa:159] John's wife Elizabeth (Katherine) Fletcher and his son John jr. died in the year 1664 and both were buried in Marshton Parish graveyard along with John's father James Welles who died in 1669 [ChBruton:159] The Marshton Parish church was located about four miles from Williamsburg near the Queens Creek in Macgruder Village.

there is a Hannibal Flethcher who claims land for his wife Elizabeth Fletcher who came to Virginia in 1634 in the ship Primrose of London. They lived on Lower Chipoaks Creek near Jamestown.
