Death information from Hanes family reunion notes.
In the August 4, 1939 Hamilton News it says "Harry Haines and family of Waterloo, Mrs. Eleanor Johnson and family of Garrett, and Mr. and Mrs. George Buss and family of Waterloo, were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Dirrim."
Also, "Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Buss and baby, Susan, were Monday supper guests of Harry Dirrim and family." Hamilton News, April 25, 1941.
Her obituary was in the Jan. 20, 1986 Evening Star, "Bethel Burdine Hanes Buss, 70, died Saturday at 1 a.m. in her home. A lifelong Waterloo resident, Mrs. Buss lived in Cedar Creek Village. Mrs. Buss was born Jan. 15, 1916 to Harry and Wilmetta (Copeland) Hanes in Waterloo. She married George A. Buss Nov. 1, 1936 in Waterloo. He survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Susan Davis of Owensboro, Ky., fives sons, Robert of Morgantown, N. C., Kenneth of Waterloo, Albert (Jake) of Sturgis, Mich., and DeWayne and Claud (Junior) of Auburn; one brother, Theron Hanes of Butler, one sister, Celestia Dirrim of Hamilton, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. One sister preceded her in death. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Feller Funeral Home, Waterloo. Theron Hanes, pastor of the Butler Nazarene Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Lake Cemetery, Waterloo. Friends may call from 2-9 p.m today in the funeral home."

His obituary in the Evening Star, Nov. 17, 1992 says, "George A. Buss,
80 died Monday at 5:10 p.m. in Betz Nursing Home, Auburn. He formerly
lived in Cedar Creek Mobile Home Park at Waterloo. He managed the
Waterloo Texaco station for 25 years, retiring in 1975. He was a
member of the Waterloo-Grant Township Fire Department for 20 years, retiring
in 1975. He was also a former member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge in Waterloo.
Mr. Buss was born Nov. 2, 1912, in Richland Township to the late Isaac
Henry and Effie pearl (Imhoff) Buss. He married Bethel Hanes of Nov.
1, 1936, in Waterloo and she died Jan. 18, 1986. Surviving are five
sons, Robert of Fort Wayne, Albert "Jake" of Sturgis, Mich., Kenneth of
Waterloo, DeWayne of Hamilton and Claude "Junior" of Butler; one brother,
Bill of Indianapolis; two sisters Luella Trapp of Jackson, Michigan, and
Thelma Steinke of Monroe, Michigan; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Feller Funeral Home
Waterloo. Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home,
with burial in Cedar Lake Cemetery, rural Waterloo. Memorial contributions
may be given to the Waterloo Fire Department."
