This site presents the current state of my ongoing research into the Kumpfs of Beerfelden (now Oberzent), Hessen who emigrated to the United States, with emphasis on the ancestors and descendants of two of my great grandparents:
Karl Eberhard Kumpf of New York City and New Jersey, my mother's paternal grandfather, and his brother, Johann Peter Kumpf; and
Katharina Kumpf of Buffalo, New York, my mother's maternal grandmother (who married William Gottwald, my great grandfather, also an immigrant from Beerfelden), and her siblings of New York City, Philadelphia, Buffalo and Cleveland.
Karl and Katharina were fifth cousins, both descendants of Peter Kumpf and his wife, Eva, one of the earliest Kumpfs in the Beerfelden church records.
All Beerfelden records are either my original research, or the work of a team in Germany, from the microfilmed church records. I am happy to provide additional source information on request. I am also happy to receive corrections and additions at any time, although they will not be reflected here until the next update.
This site includes no living individuals. To encourage collaboration with other researchers, it includes only basic information; more information and sources are available on request.

If an individual's information includes a tag for a will or necrology (obituary or death notice), those texts are available on request.
