The Practice

On Saturday, June 10, the classes of 1991, 1981, and 1966 showed up at the boat house and got a chance to practice on the Charles, in 7 AM and 8:15 AM time slots, in rainy conditions.

The Race

During the Reunion, June 11, 2006 nine teams showed up to compete for the Reunion Row cup..

The Challenge

The Row consists of two heats, a qualifying heat and a final heat, using eight-man shells. Both heats begin at the near side of the Harvard Bridge and end at the far side of the boathouse pier. All boats compete with a handicap of 1.5 seconds for every five years out.

The First Heat

Five teams representing classes of 1956 and friends, 1966, 1971, 1976, and 1981 raced in the first heat.

1. 1971 - 1:20
2. 1966 - 1:33.5
3. 1981 - 1:34**
4. 1956 and friends - 1:38.5
5. 1976 - 1:42.5

The 1971 and 1966 shells qualified for the final.

**Includes a 14-second penalty for looking so good that the official was temporarily blinded. Time was originally announced as 1:48.

The Second Heat

Four teams representing classes of 1986, 1991 A & B, and 1996 raced in the second heat.

1. 1991 'B' - 1:07
2. 1991 'A' - 1:12
3. 1986 - 1:12.1
4. 1996 - 1:20.5

The 1991 A & B shells qualified for the final.
