2007 Reunion Row, June 10

On Saturday, June 9, the classes of 1992, 1977, 1962 and 1957 showed up at the boat house and got a chance to practice on the Charles, in 7 AM and 8:15 AM time slots, in cool, cloudy, conditions. We had to share the dock with Dragon Boats running time trials for their competition Sunday afternoon.

The Race

During the Reunion, June 10, 2007 alumni competed by reunion class to claim first, second, and third place medals. In the previous Reunion Row in 2002, the Class of '92 proved its dominance, winning in one minute, 12.5 seconds. The Class of 1997 finished second in 1:16.. For details see elsewhere on this site. The competition began at 7:30 a.m.

The Challenge

The Row consisted of two heats, a qualifying heat and a final heat, using eight-man shells. Both heats begin at the near side of the Harvard Bridge and end at the far side of the boathouse pier. All boats compete with a handicap of 1.5 seconds for every five years out.

The First Heat

The first heat featured the classes of 1957, 1967, 1972, and a mixed boat led by the class of 1947.

The second heat featured the classes of 1977, 1982, 1992, 2002, and a mixed boat including the classes of 1987 and 1997.
