Jeremiah reports on the 1870 Census for New Hampshire that he is a farmer in Tamworth, NH and that his real estate is valued at $1,000 and his personal estate is valued at $600. The 1880 Census for Maine shows that Jeremiah moved his family to Parsonfield, York County, Maine. Listed in the household are his wife and four children: John T.D. (25), Nellie C. (16), Herbert N. (11), and Charles A. (7). Another son, George L. Whiting, stayed in Tamworth. A marriage record for Charles A. Whiting indicates his father "Jerry" and mother were deceased at the time of his marriage, 24 Nov 1894.

Notes for Nancy P. Dodge:

1870 census show her age as 37, which makes her birth year about 1833. Her birthplace is reported as Massachusetts, not New Hampshire.
