The Armstrong - Vichery Nuptials
Miss Eliza J. Armstrong, of this city, and Walter E. Vichery, of Ft.
Atkinson, Wis., were united in marriage at 9 o'clock a.m. Thursday morning, Jan.
11, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Armstrong, by the
Rev. C. M. Thompson. The bride is a well known and popular young lady. Mr.
Vichery is also popular among his many friends here. He has been in the employ
of the American Express Co. for several years. The happy couple departed for
Milwaukee and other cities on their wedding trip. They will be at home to their
many friends in this city after Feb. 1.

O'Brien - Prime
An Ironwood Wedding in Which the Soo is Interested (Iron News - Record)
One of the prettiest weddings imaginable took place last Wednesday evening
at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. O. B. Prime, 202 Suffolk street, when the third
daughter of the house, Miss Liva Prime, and mr. Michael O'Brien were married.
The gurests commenced to arrive at 6 o'clock, and when at 6:3- o'clock, to the
strains of a wedding march, executed by Mrs. C. H. Munger, the bridal party with
measured pace slowly passed through the parlours and formed an artistic group
before the altar, a company of 70 friends looked on in admiration. Rev. J. W.
McCleary, of St. Paul's performed the ceremony - the beautiful Episcopal
service. The bride was given away by her father. The groom's best man was Mr.
Fred Flattery. P. B. O'Brien, of Detroit and a brother of the groom, acted as a
usher. The bridesmaids were the Misses Della and Mina Prime, sisters of the
bride. Miss Prime's wedding dress was of duchess brocade satin and train, with
pearl passementrie, with the orthadox veil, but no ornaments. The bride carried
a prayer book
The bride and groom, accompanied by P. B. and W. R. O'Brien, brothers of the
groom, left on the 9 o'clock train for Sault Ste. Marie, where they will reside

a goodly number of friends of the contracting parties were presents.

A. McQuarrie, of this place, was united in marriage to Miss Hattie Smith, at
the residence of the bride's parents, at Springfield, O., on Friday of last
week. Mr. McQuarrie is one of the Canada Sault's most energetic and well known
business man. The bride is a charming young lady and will be an inquisition to

Marriage of Lawrence Ermatinger and Mrs. C. W. Endress
Lawrence Ermatinger and Mrs. Mary C. Endress were united in marriage Monday
morning, at 8 o'clock, at St. Mary's church, by Rev. Father Donovan. Mrs.
Endress was attended by Miss Bertha Bernier, and Mr. Ermatinger by his brother
Joseph. After the ceremony they drove to the residence of the bride's brother,
G. E. Bernier, for breakfast. In the evening a reception was held at the
groom's residence on Carrie street. Only near relatives were in
attendance.

Dan Miller's wedding dance, which occurred last week, was well attended by
all his friends. The refreshments were well patronized. The bride, nee Miss
St. Germain, was elegantly attired, the observers of all observers, as she and

A Port Huron Wedding of Interest
Dr. Lucy K. Waterloo, of Port Huron, and Fred Bathey, of the same city, were
married Wednesday. Mrs. Bathey is a sister of Mrs. E. Conway and Mrs. F. V.
Flower, of this city and formerly lived here. Mr. Bathey was recently appointed
immigrant inspector at Port Huron and is a representative in the legislature
from the Port Huron district.

Marriage of Miss Agnes Beauchamp and Antoine Beauchamp
Miss Agnes Beauchamp, of this city, and Antoine Beauchamp, of Escanaba, were
united in marriage at 8 o'clock Monday morning, Feb. 5, at St. Mary's church, by
the Rev. Father Donovan, in the presence of a number of relatives and friends.
The bride is a well known and popular young lady. Mr. Beauchamp also has many
friends here. After a pleasant drive the party repaired to the residence of the
bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Beauchamp, 82 Dawson street, where a repast
was prepared.
The happy couple departed for Escanaba, their future home, accompanied by Mr.
and mrs. Richard Beauchamp Feb 6. Their many friends join in wishing them

Marriage of W. A. Leach and Miss Carrie L. McBride
W. A. Leech, of Detroit, and Miss Carrie L. McBride were united in marriage
last Wednesday, by the Rev. C. M. Thompson, at the residence of the bride's
mother, Mrs. L. McBride. The wedding was a private one, only a few intimate
friends being present. The principal were supported by C. W. Luck, a cousin of
the groom, and Miss Ada McBride, a sister of the bride. The bride is a charming
and popular young lady and the groom is manager of the Detroit Hardwood co. Mr.
and Mrs. Leech left on the afternoon train Wednesday for Detroit, where they

parents. Miss Cameron is the leading soprano at the Methodist church, and Mr.

A Double Wedding
Two of Fort Brady's Soldier boys Takes Life Partners
J. C. Freeman and Miss Bertha Gould, and Henry Bartholomew and Miss Clara
Miller, were united in the bonds of matrimony Wednesday at evening, at 122
Easterday avenue. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. M. Thompson, of
Central M. E. church. The bridesmaid was Miss Lizzie Gould, the sister of the
first bride. The groomsman was Horace N. Curd, a comrade of the boys in blue,
and a great favorite with all those who became acquainted with him. Miss Bertha
Gould was attired in navy blue with a white cashmere waist, with a bouquet of
roses and geraniums. Miss Clara Miller was also dressed in navy blue, trimmed
with lace, and wore a bouquet similar to the other bride's. The young ladies
evidently wished to follow the example of their future companions, for the
bridegroom's were in the dress which is an honor to our country, the uniform of
the 19th Infantry. Messrs Freeman and Bartholomew are honored members of the
Fort Brady troops and their brides are charming and accomplished young ladies.

The friends of E. J. Martyn and Miss Minnie Ruehle were somewhat surprised
Wednesday evening at the announcement of their marriage, as their engagement had
been kept a secret. The wedding occurred Wednesday evening at the residence of
the bride's mother, Mrs. Wm. Ruehle, 77 Peck street. The ceremony was performed
by the Rev. T. R. Easterday in the presence of only the relatives. Mr. Martyn
is one of the city's prosperous and popular business men. The bride is the
youngest daughter of Mrs. Wm. Reuhle, one of the Soo's oldest residents, and was
born and brought up in this city. She is a charming young lady, is highly
cultivated and possessess' many accomplishments. Mr. and Mrs. Martyn will be

Nuptials of Edward Buchanan and Miss Retta Cameron
Wednesday evening Edward Buchanan and Miss Retta Cameron were united in
marriage by the Rev. C. M. Thomson. The ceremony occurred at the residence of
the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. Cameron, 122 Maple street, in the presence
of relatives and numerous friends. After the ceremony a bounteous wedding
supper was served. A large number of beautiful and costly presents were
received. The fact that it was the birthday of the bride's father added not a
little to the interest of the occassion. Mr. Buchanan is one of the valued
employees of Hickler Bros. And a popular and well respected young man. Mrs.
Buchanan is a well known and accomplished young lady. She is the leading
Surprano in the Central M. E. church choir. The friends of the happy couple

Ernest E. Winget and Miss Ethel Scribner were united in marriage by the Rev.
J. C. Van Auken, the groom's brother-in- law, at the residence of Mr. and Mrs.
N. C. Morgan, on Court street, Tuesday evening. After the ceremony the
principals and gurests adjoined across the street to the residenc of the groom
and enjoyed a bounteous supper prepared and served by Mrs. Morgan. The young
couple received a large number of choice and valuable presents. Mr. Winget has
been a valuable employee of the Troy Landry for a number of years. Mrs. Winget
is the daughter of Jas. G. Scribner, who is well known throughout the county.

The Quinn - Fogarty Nuptials
Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock, John Quinn and Miss Nellie Fogarty were
married by the Rev. Father Donovan at St. Mary's church. The bride was
handsomely dressed in cream satin. Miss Aggie Moloney acted as bridsmaid and
Angus McDougall as groomsman. Miss Mamie Mahon and Allia Cashen were maids of
honor. After the ceremony the couple proceeded to the Hotel Superior and there
had breakfast with their near relatives only. At 4 o'clok in the afternoon the
couple was escorted to the steamer Alberta, and departd for a wedding tur to
Durham, Ont., the bride's former home. Mr. and Mrs. Quinn will be at home after
July 2.

The marriage of Miss S. Ella Sanderson to Francis L. Baldwin, of All Train,
who is well known in the Soo, took place this week at the home of the bride's
parents, Rev. and Mrs. R. Sanderson, at Carol, Mich. Mrs. Baldwin is a very
talented young lady. She is a graduate of the Ontario Ladies College, Whitby,
Ont., and also of Albert college, Belleville, Ont. While Mr. Baldwin is the
bright young editor of the Au Train Republican and a rising citizen of the Upper

The Rev. Carman Will Be Wedded
The Rev. J. C. Carman, of the Baptist Tabernacle, left Thursday on the
Manitou for a vacation. The will first go to Ohio, and in a couple of weeks
will be united in marriage with a charming young lady. He and his bride will go
th the Traverse Bay region to spend their honeymoon, and will afterward come to
the Soo to reside. During the Rev. Carman's absence the Tabernacle pulpit will

A Pretty Home Wedding
Marriage of Elmer O. Troeger and Miss Eva B. Sweatt Tuesday
Miss Eva R. Sweatt, of this city and Elmer O. Troeger, of Hinsdale, Ill.,
were united in marriage last Wednesday. The wedding ceremony was performed in
the afternoon at the sweatt residence on Portage avenue, in the presence of
immediate relatives and a few intimate friends of the family.
First came the bridesmaid Miss Elsie Sweatt, sister of the bride, who wore a
pretty gown of white and carried La france roses. The bridegroom. O. E.
Troeger, followed accompanied by his bestman, Geor. Troeger, his brother, of
Garner, Iowa. Last came the bride, Miss Sweatt, escorted by her father, J. B.
Sweatt, who gave her away in marriage. The procession passed through the hall
to the fromt parlor, where the ceremony was impresively perfromed by the Rev. T.
R. Easterday.
Mr. and Mrs. Troeger left on the 5 o'clock train Tuesday
afternoon, under a shower of rice and best wishes, for a northern trip before
going to Hinsdale, where they will be at home after Sept. 5.

Nuptials of Charles Y. Dixon and Miss Minnie McIntosh
At the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan McIntosh, t0 Myers street, at 8:30
o'clock Wednesday evening, their daughter, Miss Minnie McIntosh, was united in
marriage to Charles Young Dixon, by the Rev. J. E. Whalen, presiding elder of
the Methodist Episcopal church. The bride was attired in a cream silk dress,
surplice at the waist and trimmed with white lace, and carried a bouquet of
white roses. She was attended by Miss Maud Eckhardt, who wore a gown of cream
cheellis, and carried a bouquet of pink roses. The groom and Benno Bhnert, the
groomsman, apeared in conventional black. After the ceremony a wedding supper
was served and Mr. and Mrs Dixon left on the Mnitou for a wedding trip to
Chicago and Niles, Mish. The later city is the home of the groom.

Trio of Weddings
Well Known Young People Joined in Holy Bonds This Week
Thos. E. King and Miss Amanda Dean were united in marriage Wednesday evening,
at the residence of the bride's parents, by the Rev. C.M.Thompson. Only the
relatives and a few friends were in attendance. Many handsome and useful
presents were received. One of the presents received was a bible printed in
1775, a heir loom of the King family. Mr. King has been employed by Geo. E.
Bernier for seven years and is a well known young man. The bride is a charming
and accomplished young lady. Mr. and Mrs. King will reside on Portage avenue
east.
Monday Night at the Presbyterian parsonage occurred the nuptials of Henry
Barton and Miss Maggie McEdward. No guests were in attendance. John Barton,
brother of the groom, acted as best man, and Miss Annie Mackie as bridesmaid.
After the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. G.W.Luther, the young couple
took passage on the Cambria for Meaford, Not., where they will honeymoon. On
their return home Mr. and mrs. Barton will occupy A.B.Cracknell's cozy cottage
on Ann Street. Both have many friends in the city. The bride is a most estimable
young lady, a member of the Presbyterian church and prominently identified with
church work. The groom a painter in the employe of A.B.Cracknell and is a
steady and reliable young man. A host of friends wish them bon voyage over the
matrimonial sea.

The Tate - Mitten Nuptials
Edward Tate and Miss Amelia Mitten were united in marrage at the residence of
Mr. and Mrs. I. E. Bitting, by the Rev. Bitting, Wednesday evening, September
12. The affair was a surprise to the friends of the contracting parties. It
was only made public a few days ago. Mr. Tate is one of the city's leading

The Secret Marriage of J.H. More and Miss Roxie Trempe
A sensation was created this week in the Soo by the announcement that two
well known and popular young people had been secretly married nearly three
months ago. The principals in the romantic event are John H. More and Miss
Roxie Tremp. The young couple kept their secret well for a long time. But it
finally leaked out through some thoughtless word. Friends set to work to
investigate and soon ascertained the truth. In response to inquires Miss Marie
Trempe obtained this week from Windsor, Ont., a copy of the marriage
certificate, which set all doubts at rest.
This copy reads as follows:
Married-On the 6th day of August in All Saint's church, at Windsor, Ont. by
Canon Hincks, Miss Roxie Trempe and John H. More, both of Sault Ste. Marie,
Michigan, USA.
The bride is a young lady, who comes from one of the oldest and most highly
respected families in the Soo. She is a daughter of the late Louis P. Trempe,
and is an accomplished and charming young lady. Everybody knows good natured

Miss Ella M. Ripley, of this city, and George A. Boyd, of the Canadian Soo,

accomplishment. Mr. Boyd is an employee of his uncle in the Pacific Hotel, in
the Canadian Soo, and is a popular young man. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd departed
Thursday morning's train for a short visit with Mr. Boyd's parents at Thessalon,
after which they will make an extended eastern trip and be at home to their
friends in the Canadian Soo after January 1.

A Wedding of Local Interest
Miss Lillian M. Jenne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Jenne, who formerly
lived in the Soo, was united in marriage Nov. 21, at Eaton Rapids. This is what
the Eaton Rapids Herald of Nov. 22 says of the affair.
It is a pleasure to announce to our readers this week the wedding of two of
Eaton Rapid's highly esteemed young people. The bride is the daughter of L.D.
Jennie, the agricultural implement dealer and alderman of the second ward of
this city, and the groom, Mr. Smith is a trusted and faithful employee at the
Michigan Central railroad depot at this station. The wedding was strictly a

A Pretty Home Wedding
That of Miss Evelyn McCorquodale and Harry W. Clarke, at Toronto
In the Toronto Saturday Night, of Jan 5, appeared the following notice of the
recent marriage there of Miss Evelyn McCorquodale and Harry W. Clarke.
A pretty home wedding took place on Wednesday evening at residence of Mr.
Graham H. Macpherson, 326 Adelaide street west, when Miss Evelyn Shanly
McCorquodale became Mrs. Harry Williams Clarke. The ceremony was performed by
Rev. Mr. Williams of St. John's church, and was witnessed by a pleasant party of
relatives and friends. Miss McCorquodale wore a simple wedding gown of white
silk, and her bridesmaid Miss Cassie Richardson, of Chatham, was in deep pink
faille with points of antique lace. Fine Miss Edith Macpherson was in white
crepe with huglesleeves of white India silk, and acted as maid of honor. Capt.
McCorquodale, father of the bride, gave her away, and Dr. Sinclair, T.G.H. acted
as best man. The guests and bridal party partook of a dainty supper, after which
Mr. and Mrs. Clarke left for their home in Manistique.

Trio of Weddings Occur
There could not have been a lovelier wedding then that which occurred at the
Central Methodist Episcopal church last Wednesday afternoon at 4:15 o'clock,
when Miss Mina Clarke and Norman Lestil Martin met at the altar.
The very important words which merged two lives into one were spoken by the Rev.
C.M. Thompson pastor of the church, assisted by Rev. J. E. Whalen presiding
elder. Mendelsohn's wedding march was played by Mrs. J. E. Whalen. The bride was
attired in a handsome tailor made traveling suit of pearl gray and carried a
beautiful bouquet of white carnations. The bridesmaid, Miss Ann Riordan, was
likewise attired in a tailor-made gown of dark gray and carried a bouquet of
pink and garnet carnations. The wedding was a public one. No formal invitations
were issued. The high esteem in which the happy couple are held was shown by the
large audience that assembled to witness the ceremony.

his way home from Edinburg, Miss., where he had been teaching school for several
months. On his way home he stopped for a day at Lansing, where he wedded Miss

Guard-Trempe Nuptials
A Pretty Church Wedding at St. Mary's Tuesday Morning
One of the prettiest church weddings which has been celebrated in this city
occurred at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, in St. Mary's church. It was that of
Capt. Alexander McCook Guard, Company D., 19th U.S. Infantry, of Fort
Brady, and Miss Marie Sophia Trempe, daughter of the late Louise P.
Trempe. The Rev. F. D. Donovan, S.J., performed the cermony.
At the
stroke of 1o o'clock the bridal party appeared at the main front entrance of the
church. This was the signal for allie Trempe, brother of the bride, who presided
at he orgn, to begin the musical program.
On the bridal march Miss Leona
Trempe, sister of the bride, who acted as bridesmaid follower the ushers. She
wore a dress of white mulle, trimmed with white chiffon, and carried a bunch of
white carnation. Then came the bride, attired in a travelling suit of grey, on
the arm of her brother L. R. Trempe, jr., carrying a whit e covered prayer book.
The mother and sister of the groom Mesdames Baldwin and Girard, with Lieut.
Johnson and Leonard followed. The groom and groomsman, W.C. Marsh, entered the
church through a side entrance and met the bridal party at the chancel rail,
where the cermony was performed.

Miss Gertie Edwards Wedded
The Groom is James Shipp, a Prominent Young Man of Superior.
Mr. James Shipp and Miss Gertrude Edwards were married Saturday evening at
the residence J. F. of Tostevin, 1910 John Avenue. Rev. W. J. Johnston, of the
Cumming Avenue Methodist Church, officiating. The wedding was a quiet affair
and only a few of the immediate friends of the contracting parties were present.
The couple left the same evening on the steamer Monarch for a wedding trip in
the east. Among other places they will visit Palmyra, Ont. where the parents of
Mr. Shipp reside. The event was in the nature of a surprise to most of their
friends. Mr. Shipp has been the bookkeeper and cashier of the firm of Sunderland
& Ostrander for the past eight years. Miss Edwards has been a resident of
Superior for three years and is very popular young lady. Mr. and Mrs. Shipp
will be absent two weeks and upon their return will reside in one of the Mills
cottages on Twenty-second street. Superior, Wis., Telegram. Mrs.
Shipp is a niece of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gilray, of this city, and has a large
circle of acquaintance in the Soo, where she has visited on several occasion.

J. Rosenberger, the wide awake commission man, returned to the Soo from
Cincinati, O., last Sunday, and brought with him his newly wedded wife. Mr. and

The marriage of Miss Tille Herrmann to Mr. Jacob Rosenberger, of Sault Ste.
Marie, Mich. was prettily celebrated last evening, at 6 o'clock, at the home of
the bride's brother, Mr. Henry Herrmann, Hopkins Street. Dr. Charles Levi
officiating, according to the Jewish rites. The bride wore a handsome gown of
white brocaded moire, her veil held by a diamond crescent the gift of the groom,

Charles Weir and Mrs. Tebo were married at the new church at Richard's
Landing. St. Joseph Island, this week by the Rev. P. T. Rowe of Sault Ste.

river to the Island by Robert Coulson, where they were met by a hack from

The wedding of Geo. A. Ferris, of this city and Miss Attie Crane of Rapid
River, is announce to take place next Tuesday. Mr. Ferris is the editor and
publisher of the Church Herald and has a future full of promise. Miss Crane is
the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Wm. Crane, of Rapid River. She is a young
lady of pleasing personality and is respected by all who know her.

The marriage of Miss A. Mae Gowan and John Hotton Jr. was celebrated at the
First Presbyterian Church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. T. R.
Easterday officiating. Miss Marguerite O'Brien acted as bridesmaid and M. S.

Their Fourth Wedding Anniversary
Dr. and Mrs. T. N. Rogers celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary Monday
evening. They entertained the Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Whelan, the Rev. and Mrs. C.
M. Thompson and Rev. and Mrs. T. R. Easterday. During the evening their
youngest child, Dan, was baptized by Grandpa Easterday, assisted by the Rev's
Thompson and Whelan. The occasion was a happy one and was greatly enjoyed by

Chicago, arrived in the city yesterday with Mrs. Miller who was Miss Mollie
Campbell, of Chicago, until last Tuesday, when the marriage was performed. Mr.
Miller greeted his many friends here with unexplainable happiness until the

Two Popular Young Soo People Married this Week
A very interesting event transpired on Wednesday evening when Angus McLeod
and Mary McLay were united in the holy bonds of matrimony, the Rev. C.P. Bates
officating. The ceremony was held in the future home of the young couple, both
being with relatives in the city. The spirit of the wedding was essentially
Scotch and the assembled guest might have been taken for a "gathering of the
clans".

Wm. Beacon and Miss Katie M. Hannah, of Pickford, were no doubt surprised and
considerably embarrassed as well when they learned by the enterprising Democrat
this week that they were to be married last week. The fact is that their
nuptials will occur at the residence of the bride's mother Mrs. Hannah, at
Pickford next Wednesday evening. Mr. Beacon runs a saw mill at Pickford, and a
brother of David Beacon, the well known Pickford merchant. He has resided in
this county for 11 years. The prospective bride is an accomplished young lady.

A Young Gentleman of the Canadian Soo Married this Week (Minneapolis Journal)
The marriage of Miss Nina Coykendall and Frank Henry Tuttle occurred
yesterday afternoon at the home of the bride's mother 1122 Hennepin avenue. The
marriage rites were read by Rev. H. P. Nicholas of St. Mark's Church the bridal
party standing during the ceremony on a wide bay window, draped with similax.
The decorations of the house were yellow roses and chyrsanthemuns in baskets and
vases. The bride wore a gown of pale gray bengaline, with white brocade sleeves
----- She was attended by Miss Mamie Stanford -----. Mr. Tuttle is one of the
capable attaches in the office of the Lake Superior Power Co., Canadian Soo.
The Miss Stanford referred to above is a daughter of General Accountant G.
Stanford of the same office.
