whose maiden name was Mary Thomas, was born in the vicinity of London, England,
where she lived until the age of seven years, when she removed with her parents
to Canada, where afterwards met the man who subsequently became her husband.
They were married on the 13th of May, 1846, and for half a century
have lived together in the greatest harmony and in peace with their fellow-man.
Twelve children came to bless that happy, home; eight sons and four daughters
and with the one exception all are living to help celebrate their parents golden
wedding. The old people expect a grand reunion of Sim's and "Little Phil"
extends his hearty congratulations to them. For many years Rev. Sims was pastor
of the Advent Christian church in Howick, Ont, and in his labours was ably

From Over the Sea
Came an Englishwoman Who Was Married Here This Week.
A marriage under romantic circumstances was that Thursday afternoon at the
residence of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lesway, on Nolte street, where the Rev. C. M.
Thompson, of the Central Methodist Episcopal church, united in matrimony Thomas
Perry, of Valley City, North Dakota, and Miss Sarah Buckely, of Warrington,
Lancashire, England. The bride arrived in Montreal and the couple journeyed t
this city, arriving here Wednesday evening. At the ceremony Robert Lesway acted
as bestman, while Miss Ethel Adams was bridesmaid. After the service a super
dinner was served, prepared by Chef Neary in his very best style. The brides
cake came from England, and was one of the best.-------
Mr. Perry came to this country from England three years ago. Last year he
visited his former home, and while there the gay little god of love shot his
heart full of arrows. After a short courtship, the fair object of his affection
consented to make Mr. Perry happy, and he returned to prepare a home for her.
The brave little woman who journeyed across the ocean alone to meet her
prospective husband, is certainly worthy of all happiness in her adopted
country. The happy couple left in the evening train for their home in the west,
followed by the good wishes of all who formed their acquaintances.
