J.H. 31 Dec 1852. Supplement - p. 35. Richard Woolsey had 4 males, 2 females, 1 wagon, 2 oxen, 2 cows and 4 young stock. Not counting Richard, the father, the 4 males would be the above 3 sons: Thomas, George and William, and possibly his son Brigham H. Woolsey (b. 1850), son of Clarissa. The females would be his wife, Clarissa and her daughter Sarah Abigail Woolsey, b 1848. Where is Mary E. Woolsey, d/o Clarissa? Also where is Hannah Foxhall, and her dau Hannah and her son Richard? on this 1852 trip? Lavina Patterson Woolsey, wife of James Hopkins Woolsey and their three children also came in 1852, in David Wood Company, in the family of Wm. M. Gregor "and Laving Woolsey". Richard Woolsey settled his large family fairly early in Provo, Utah, UT. He and a large family (families) were found in the 1856 Utah State census (FHL film # 505913). In that census, only names & sex were recorded, so it is with some difficulty that the individuals can be identified. They were found on pp 954 and 956 and were roughly divided into three groups. Also living in Provo was the following unidentified family: CENSUS: 1856 Utah State Census. FHL film # 505913. & Index compiled by Bryan Lee Dilts. Index Publishing. Salt Lake City. 1983. They don't seem to be in subsequent censuses so they may have moved, as a family, to other parts. Because there is a son "Jacob" I have put this John as a son of Jacob C. Woolsey and Elizabeth Weger. Also that Richard died 13 Feb 1879 in New Harmony, but he was in the 1880 Harmony, Kane Co, UT 1880 census (as above) so that couldn't be his death date. Also, under sources, she gives as a reference "Day book of Richard Woolsey". I have found this "day book", an account book of his income. Other sources include "East of Antelope Island, p. 172-3; Endowment House Sealing Book C, John D. Lee's Diaries. and also cites "Record book of James Richard Woolsey, child # 4". I need to know what kind of record this is. BYU Library. Woolsey, Richard. MSS SC 868. ACCOUNT BOOK, 1864-1919, bulk 1867-1871. 2 copies. 58 leaves. He probably lived in Kanab. Utah. Woolsey was a cobbler and a farmer.
