MIEHE
Gustave F. MIEHE was born on 25 Feb 1886 somewhere in Nebraska. I do not know much about this great grandfather of mine except what was told to me by my grandmother and her cousin Betty Cress. He married my great grandmother Lynda Bell SHUSTER on 26 July 1919 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lynda worked as a Bell Telephone Operator and Gus was an asbestos worker. Gus had been married once before but that had ended in Divorce in 1917 or so.
My grandmother Marie Lynda Miehe was born a little over a year later on 15 July 1920. Lynda Bell was pregnant with another child when she fell down the stairs of the apartment building they lived in. She miscarried the baby and died on 15 July 1922.
After Lyndas death Gus gave the care of Marie Lynda to Lynda's sister Lura. Here she was raised until she was 16 and married Warren Albert HERKERT.
Gus was a Colonel in the Army during WW1. He served in Co. C 11th Inf.. 28 Div. He passed away on 4 July 1951 and is buried in the Beverly National Cemetery in New Jersey. I have tried to get his military records but apparently they were destroyed in the fire.
