In the name of God Amen this Twenty Six Day of January, Anno Domini One Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty four five I John Dodson of Charles County being weak in body but of good and perfect memory thanks to Almighty God for it do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner & form following I commend my Soul to Almighty God my Saviour & Redeemer and for the setting of my Temporal Estate and such goods and Chattles Debts as it hath pleased God to bestow on me I do ordain give and dispose the same in manner and form following that is to say
Imprimis -- I give and bequeath unto my dearly beloved wife Leaticia Dodson one Negro Man named Henry to remain hers during her life and then to return to my Dearly & well beloved son John Dodson to remain his life & then to my son Walter Dodson. I likewise give unto my dearly beloved Wife Leaticia Dodson the bed and furniture as I and my Wife lies on and also I give Two Thousand Pounds of good Tobacco to buy her a Woman Servant with and one Horse to her liking to remain hers forever.
Item -- I give and bequeath unto my Dearly and well beloved Son Walter Dodson one Negro Man named Peter to remain his & his heirs lawfully begotton of his body forever.
Item -- I give unto my Dearly and well beloved Son John Dodson a parcel of Land containing fifty acres to run as the Branch Runs and takes in the young orchard with it being part of Dodsons Courage to remain his during his life and after the said John Deceases (to my dearly and well beloved Son Walter Dodson, to remain his and his heirs lawfully begotton of his body forever
Item -- I give and bequeath unto my Dearly & Well beloved Daughter Frances Hewton part of all my moveable Estate excepting any part that is mentioned in this Will
Item --It is my last Will and desire that the remaining part of my Personal Estate after my just debt being paid shall be equally divided between Wife and two Sons & Daughter Walter Dodson and John Dodson and Frances Hewton
Item -- And I hereby appoint my said Son Walter Dodson full & Sole Executor of my last Will & Testament I hereby provoking Disanulling making Void all Will or Wills by me made this only my last Will & Testament as Witnefs whereof I hereunto set my hand and affect my Seal the Day and Year above written.

Annulling these presents all & every Testament & Testaments Will & Wills heretofore by me made or declared either by Word or Writing & this is to be taken only for my last Will and Testament & none other And now for the settling of my estate & such goods & chattles as it hath pleased God to Bestow on me Likewise I doe order Give & Dispose the same in manner & form following (that is to say) I Will that all those Debts I owe in right & conscience to any manner of person or persons whatsoever shall be well & truly paid within Convenient time after my Decease by my Executor hereafter named.

Nov 16, 1754 from Dan of St Thomas Jenifer of CC, to Walter Dodson of CC, for the yearly rent of 1000 lbs of crop tobacco & 7 shillings & 1 penny sterling, to be paid to sd Jenifer each Dec 25, the lease to sd Dodson of 2 tracts of land, the one called Dodsons Courage, taken up by John Dodson, and the other called Dodsons Chance, taken up by the afd Walter. This lease is for the natural lives of afd Walter Dodson, William Barton Dodson, & Walter Dodson Jr. Afd Walter and his heirs may cut down and make use of any timber or fire wood for the use of the land afd, provided the sd Walter does not sell or carry away any of the timber or wood. In the name of God amen I Walter Dodson of Charles County in Province of Maryland tho weak in body but of sound perfect mind & memory praise be to almighty God for it do make this my last Will and Testament in manner, and form. Following that is to say
Imprimis -- I give and bequeath my Soul to almighty God who gave it and my body to the earth to be decently intered at the discretion of my Executors or Executrix here after mentioned.
Item -- I give and bequeath unto my brother John Dodson one Negro boy named Richard.
Item -- I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Henrieter Dodson part of a tract of Land called Sarum whereon I now dwell & one hundred fifty acres more of less during her life and after her decease the above mentioned land to be sold and the money to be equally divided between my *brothers and sisters. And further I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Henrieter Dodson the whole remainder part
of my personable estate of what kind or quantity soever not in this Will mentioned.
Lastly I do hereby Nominate Constitute (and) appoint my loving wife Henrieter Dodson and by brother John Dodson Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking disannulling and making void all former Will or Wills by me made and only ratifying & confirming this to be my last Will and Testament. Be it remembered that on this day, twenty fourth day of February, Anno Domini 1827, there has been addressed to us satisfactory evidence to prove that Elizabeth Radcliff who made the foregoing declaration on oath and has subscribed the power of attorney herewith connected, is a niece and one of the heirs of William Smoot late a lieutenant in the Continental Army of the revolutionary war (being the daughter of Barton Smoot a brother of said William Smoot) and that the other heirs of the said William Smoot are in number, to wit: Henry Dodson, Robert Dodson, John Dodson, Middleton Dodson, Eleanor Dodson, and Sarah Dodson, children of Sarah Dodson, sister of Lieutenant William Smoot, all living in Prince Georges County in the state of Maryland and that the above named persons are all the heirs of the said William Smoot know to be living.
