Established 1881

Longview, Gregg County, Texas

Trscription started Fall 1999 and finished October 21, 2000

The Alpine Presbyterian Church is located at 4102 Tryon Road in Longview, Gregg Co., TX, and sits on the corner of Tryon Rd. and Hiett Lane. The cemetery is not located next to the Church. To get to the Cemetery go down Heitt Lane and take a right on Sam Page Rd. The Cemetery will be located on the right and sits approximately in front of Dennard Street.

From talking with a next-door neighbor of the cemetery and a member of the Alpine Presbyterian Church, the cemetery was originally on the Dickered Farm and donated by Mr. Dickard for the cemetery. According to one of the headstones in the cemetery, Matthew Clark donated land to the Alpine Presbyterian Church on August 18, 1888.

The cemetery is laid out in sections. There are three entrances to the cemetery; two are drives that go to the back and one is the walkway from the front entrance.  Below you will find a diagram of how this cemetery is laid out when facing the enterance. We recorded the cemetery according to this diagram.

The next 3 Headstones were very difficult to read. They appeared to be made of sandstone and looked to be identical to each other. J'nell and I spent quite a bit of time trying to read the markers. We came to the conclusion that all three markers were probably SMITHERMAN markers. These markers are crumbling away.
