Ada Marie CAMPBELL was often referred to as Nurse Ada M.
Stephen Allen in letter 3-JUN-1926 remarks "Mother not doing much atpresent" and he goes on to say "only two booked up at present". It'sassumed that this is patients she is looking after.
Rita M. ALLEN in her letter 11-DEC-1928 writes "She [Liz Saunders] wasthe b... that put mum where she is now in her grave [Ada died22-AUG-1928]. I don't forget the time they put mum out in the streetans Ivy smacked her face. She would not have been knocked down by acar if they had not put her out.".
She goes on to write "Well Liz Saunders reckons I killed mum. I neverkilled her it was them. She would never have got married again onlyfor them and Lil Riley [not absolutely sure if this is the exactname]. They run her to get married again telling her we were no goodto her. They never wanted her when she had nothing but when she hadall they wanted her. I always wanted her."
In fact, Ada did marry a second time in 1927 to a James A Cain.

In an undated letter written by Ruby (Rebecca ALLEN), to her sisterLiz (Elizabeth Paxton ALLEN), she says it was "mother's birthday lastSunday Feb-10". We know that Ada Maria CAMPBELL nee ALLEN died at theage of 58 (need to add source here??) making her birth date10-FEB-1870.
This seems to be confirmed on her marriage certificate indicating shewas 20 on the 14-FEB-1891.
In fact, Ada's birth certificate shows she was born on 10-FEB-1871.The birth was witnessed by Mrs Robinson, probably the mid-wife. Therewasn't any doctor in attendance which would have been quite usual forthose days and particularly given the remoteness of town of Araluen.The birth was officially registered at BRAIDWOOD by Ralph Clemenger on31-MAR-1871.

Nurse Ada M. Allen was aged 58 when she died.
In her letter of Thursday, 30-AUG-1928, Jessie ALLEN said her mother"died 5 past 2 last Wednesday morning" which is Wednesday,22-AUG-1928. She goes on to say "Poor old mum had carbuneles &diabetties & besides she has appsesses in her left arm [from theneedles]". She was in hospital for 5 weeks when she died. She alsosays Ada's one wish was to be buried with Stephen and "she got herwish for she is buried in the same grave as dad.".
[295] In her letter of Thursday, 30-AUG-1928, Jessie ALLEN said her mother'sone wish was to be buried with Stephen and "she got her wish for sheis buried in the same grave as dad.".
[2121] The witnesses to the marriage were A. CAMPBELL and Bodelia PAXTON. AsAda was 4 days from being 21 years old, the certificate is annotatedwith "The consent of Archibald Campbell father of the bride was givento this marriage". The officiating minister was William Martin. Themarriages was carried out "according to the rights of the Church ofEngland".

The marriage was conducted in the presence of John HECKS and aBRADBEER. At this stage I'm unable to decipher the christian name ofthe BRADBEER witness.
