[15] For quite some time it was thought that Mary Elizabeth's family namewas BREADBEER. This came from her marriage records. However, aftermuch searching she and her family could not be found. Her birth placewas given as North Curry, Somerset. Census data from that regionindicated that there were several BRADBEER families living in thisarea and this could be mistaken for BREADBEER given the Englishaccent. Later this was confirmed with both her baptismal and birthrecords showing Mary Elizabeth BRADBEER born in 1858 to Samuel andEliza BRADBEER.

Arthur YOUNG's birth certificate indicates that his mother, MaryElizabeth was 34 years old at the time of the birth. This means shewas born about 1855 (she was the informant). The 1881 British Censusindicates that she was 24 at that time which means she was born around1856/57. According to the 1881 Census, she was born in North Cary,Somerset - a tithing of Castle Cary. The associated Civil RegistryDistrict is YEOVIL in the Union of WINCANTON (seewww.somerset.gov.uk/archives/pscascar.htm).
There is however, some uncertainty surrounding her birth place. Asurname index for Castle Cary extracted from the 1851 British Censusdoes not contain any name like BREADBEER (created by the Somerset &Dorset Family History Society. Presently (June, 1999) I am following atheory that North Cary might actually be North Curry, another civilparish in Somerset. The name BRADBEER and BOOBEER (please don't let itbe this one) appear in North Curry and names such as BRADBEER,BRADFORD and BROADBEAR are common throughout the Taunton census area(of which North Curry is one parish). Further, the Birth Certificateof Albert Young shows she was born in either North Curry or Carry(difficult to distinguish betwwen the u and the a). This adds furtherweight to the North Curry theory.
Margaret Young thought her birthday was on New Year's Day - 1stJanuary (see Margaret YOUNG's letter, early 1937).
Mary Elizabeth was born in North Curry. Her birth index is:
1858, Q3, Bradbeer, Mary Elizabeth, Taunton, 5c, pg 401
and her birth certificate indicates that Samuel BRADBEER and ElizaBRADBEER formerly DARE are her parents.

At the time of Mary Elizabeth's death, the informant, Chas H.McPherson, Son-in-law, King Street, OURIMBAH, indicated that vtherewere five living children of her marriage to Joseph YOUNG (Albert 55,Mary 53, Annie 52, Arthur 48, Elizabeth 43 and Ethel M. 36) and 3deceased males. Two of the deceased males were probably William C(b.1893 and killed in WW1) and Walter. Note that Arthur's age at herdeath would have been 49 or 50 (b.1889). Her cause of death wasChronic Cardio Renal Disease, Uraemia (altered from Anaemia). Themedical attendant was S.K. Dwyer.
She died at the "Roma" Private Hospital Gosford,) NSW and her deathcertificates indicates she was "late of the Muncipalicity of Godford".

The marriage was solemnized at the Parish Church of Horfield,Gloucester. It was carried out "according to the Rites and Ceremoniesof the Church, after Banns" by H.H. Hardy. It was conducted in thepresence of John Morley (for Joseph) and Mary Ann Mapstone (forElizabeth).
The marriage date from the IGI contradicts the date given by MaryElizabeth on Arthur YOUNG's (Pa's) birthcertificate by one year -19-FEB-1879.
