Simon Coumans Passes Away.
Aged resident of Bay City Died Early Yesterday Morning.
Simon Coumans an aged resident of Bay City passed away at
his home -- North Henry (?) Street yesterday morning at 5
o'clock. Death came from causes incident to old age. Mr.
Coumans was born in New Brunswick in 1828. At the age of
nine he with his parents moved to Bruce County Ontario where in 185(4?) he
was married to Miss Mary O'Farrell. Mr. and Mrs. Coumans came to Michigan
in 1873 and settled on a farm in Lapier? County. Twelve years ago he
retired from active life and came to Bay City. Mr. and Mrs. Coumans
celebrated their golden wedding in 1906?. The deceased is survived by the
widow and seven children. The children are John Coumans (of
Duluth/Detroit??), Mrs John Foley, Mrs Edward? Pasha?, Mrs Patrick
Sullivan, and Lewis, Richard and Thomas ___ this city.
The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from
St Mary's Church, The remains will be interred in St Patrick's
cemetery, L. P., Coumans who had made arrangement to leave Sunday night
for Mexico?, on account of poor health cancelled his arrangements Sunday
night on account of the seriousness of his father's condition.

This obituary was possibly from the Bay City Tribune, 1910.
The date given for Simon's marriage is likely 1856. He and his
sister Elizabeth were married on September 8, 1856 in Guelph, Ontario.
This would also fit with the date provided for Simon and Mary's golden
wedding.
Simon's daughter Margaret Coumans is listed as "Mrs. Edward Pasha" . .
. her husband's name may have actually been "Edmund Pesha."
Simon's daughter Mary Coumans is listed in the obituary as "Mrs.
Patrick Sullivan"
