Volunteers

At least two men having enlisted in the Regulars before the Civil War, enlisted anew in States Volunteers unit during the Civil War. It’s the case of:

Desire Cleenewerck  in the 1st Infantry between November 1855 and 1860. I found another(?) Desire C. Cleonewerck from Chicago who enlisted on June 17, 1861 as Corporal in the 19th Illinois infantry, Co. A. He was killed at Chickamauga September 20, 1863 as Sergeant. He is buried in Atlanta, Georgia. No other information.

Note : A Desire Cleenewerk married in Nashville, Tennessee a Mary Ann Smith on December 10, 1862. No link found, except that the 19th Illinois was in Nashville between August and December 1862. It’s only some speculation.

Edmond Noirsain  (or Norsain) was an hospital Stewart  in the 8th Infantry from August 1855 to August 1860. He enlisted in the 2nd Pennsylvania  Reseserve Infantry (31st Volunteers) on may 27, 1861 for three years but was discharged on October 31, 1862. No other information found.
