The familial history

The building of our today families

After this sketch of the origins of our different families and their ancient history, I would try, in the following pages, to describe how, from these ancestral nucleus, the different family groups have formed and how they have evolved..

The descendance of Bonaventure Huguenin

In Rimaucourt, little rural town in the department of Haute Marne, the 17th February 1756, Jean Huguenin, son of Francois Huguenin and Nicole Voilleque, married Marie Leclerc. From this marriage, were born a son, Louis Claude and a girl, Marie. Louis Claude Huguenin married, the 10th of February 1795, in Rimaucourt, Marie Anne Mercier. He had been preceded by his sister Marie who had married in 1793 Claude Routhier.

Louis Claude Huguenin, at first schoolmaster, became an eminent citizen and, in 1830, he was mayor of Rimaucourt. He had two children, Francois, born the 25th of July 1806, and Marie Anne. Francois became afterwards a merchant and settled in Chavanges (Aube) where, the 20th of November 1831, he married Rose Christine Magnin. His son, Bonaventure Alexis, is born here the 17th of October 1832. This last one made a career of Post clerk and then settled in Paris. He had married Marie Louise Pelagie Detremont, from Champagne, and they had a son Edouard Louis Alexis Marie, born in Paris the 11th of November 1872 and dead in Saint Eugene (Algeria) the 11th of September 1940. He was my paternal grand-father.

When he married Marthe Andree Drieu, the 28th of February 1896 in Paris, Edouard Huguenin was a Post clerk and did afterwards an eminent career. In the year 1918, he was Chief of Service at the Post Ministery in Paris and, at his death in 1940, he was Honorary General Inspector of the Post and knight of the Legion d'Honneur. His wife, Marthe Drieu, was the daughter of Achille Edmond Drieu, from Saint-Lo (Manche), who was a Director of the Christofle Establishment in Paris. Marthe Drieu is dead in Algiers on the 13th of August 1952

The Huguenin family had left France after the 1914 war for Algeria where Edouard Huguenin had been posted in Constantine at first, then in Algiers where he achieved his career as Regional Director of the Post Office and Chief of the Colonial Post Department at the General Government of Algeria. He has had two children: a daughter Yvonne Marthe Julia, dead after a few days, and a son, André Edouard Edmond HUGUENIN, my father, born in Paris the 18 of June 1808 and dead in Rennes the 27th of June 1978. Andre Huguenin did a career of hospital medicine doctor which he achieved as a Medicine Professor at the Medicine School of the Rennes University. He was married twice.

From his first marriage with Suzanne Marguerite Marie Revel, born in Paris the 24th of June 1911, daughter of Léon Albert Casimir Revel and Julie Anna Pages, were born four children:

After his divorce, in 1945, Andre Huguenin married in Algiers with Simone Morisset. He had, from this second marriage, an other daughter Marie Claude. Andre HUGUENIN was Officer of the Legion d'Honneur and Commander of the tunisian Order of the Nicham Ifthikar.

The descendance of Jacques Revel

Pietro, a son of Jacques Revel and Anne Marie Baudoin, both recorded in the Census of 1827, is born in La Roquette sur Var the 29th of November 1787. His full name was Pierre Lazare Revel and he married, the 25th of January 1816, Marie Lucie Ugo. He died the 24th of January 1816 leaving six children. One of his sons, Maurice Revel, was born in La Roquette the 15th of June 1820 and died the 23rd of July 1868.
