Francis Mullins Delaney


Francis Delaney is the fourth child Martin Cleveland Delaney, Sr. and Susan Ruth Heil. He was born about 1925 in New Jersey.

Along with the rest of the family, Francis moved to Laguna Beach, California in the early 1930s. After World War II, Fran and his two brothers - Bruce and Nicholas - established Delaney's Seafood Market, which was a well known business for many years in the Cannery Village section of Newport Beach, California.

On July 4, 1949 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Francis Delaney married Myrna Mae Webber. Myrna was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 2, 1930. She was the daughter of Fred J. Webber, born in Kansas, and Bernice Mae ( ______ ) Webber, born in Nebraska.1

About 1969, Fran opened the first Delaney's Seafood Restaurant in the Newport Beach area. Eventually, Fran would expand the business to nine highly successful restaurants located throughout Southern California. In the late 1980's, the chain of restaurants was sold to a Japanese corporation.

Fran Delaney lives in Costa Mesa, Orange County, California.
