This photo was found in the album of Grace Shepard and is most likely Richard H. Porter who married Ruth Hannahs and raised Susan R. Hannahs, the mother of Grace Shepard.

From the Shepard Bible above, Ruth was born Nov. 25, 1816 and married Richard Porter in Portsmouth, OH Feb. 23,,1852.

The following is the obituary found in Susan Hannah's scrapbook "Porter - Ruth S. Hannah was born in Greenup co., Ky., Nov. 25,,1811, whence she moved to Portsmouth,O, at which place she was married Feb. 3,1852 to Richard H. Porter. After marriage they moved to Newport, Ind., where she died May 30, 1889. Sister Porter had been a member of the Methodist Church since she was thirteen years of age, and gave evidence of her piety and Christ likeness by caring for the needy and fatherless. Having no children of her own, she was a mother to six orphan children that she from time to time took to her heart and home, and cared for as tenderly as their own mothers could have done. This seemed to be her special work to do, and she did it, and did it well. Her death was the result of heart disease, and took place immediately after she had risen from her bed, and while sitting by the fire in her old arm chair. R.S.M."
