PEGGY CHURCH-BROWNING
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ill. - Peggy Colleen Church-Browning, 61, died at 4:30 a.m.
Wednesday in Lawrenceville.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Brockman & Son Funeral Home,
Vincennes. The Rev. Dan Gilley, Dr. Phillip Summers and Dr. Phillip Pierpont
will officiate. Interment will be at the Springhill Cemetery, Shoals. Friends
may call from 4 to 8 tonight, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday from
noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born to The Rev. John O.E. and Oval Imogene (Drew) Church on April 18,
1938, in Oakland City.
Church-Browning was an English and study skills professor at Vincennes
University (VU). She was a Phi Delta Sorority, VU Alumni Association board of
directors and Second Baptist Church member. She was a National Deans List member
in 1980 and was on the National Council of Teachers of English. She had several
short stories published in the Tecumseh Review and won social service awards for
both special education and regular education from the social service department
at VU. Also, she had an associate degree in special education at VU, a
bachelor's of science degree in special education from Indiana State University
and a masters in special education from Indiana State University.
Surviving are: four daughters, Rebekah Browning, Vincennes; Marilou Risley,
Lawrenceville, Ill.; Michele Atiyani and Bethany Lennox, both of Louisville,
Ky.; a son, Michael Browning, Vincennes; a sister, Mary Jane Gilley, Washington
and five grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harbor House.
