John� s parents relocated their family to Indiana County in 1824 fromMassachusetts (according to land records). Before that they werepossibly in Warrensburg, NY and were listed on the 1814 and 1816 taxrolls in that town.
It is probable that he first married Marie Davis, who was born inWarrensburg; the names of their children are strong evidence that shewas the mother. They were named after her father, Silas Davis, hisfather and her grandfathers, Nathan Bennett and Samuel Geer, and hermother, Eunice Geer. Marriage records of the children give her firstname as Marie, but do not give her surname.
The U.S. Census of 1840 indicates that the family consisted of twoboys, ages between 5 and 10 (Silas and Samuel), 1 age 10-15 (NathanGeer) and 1 male, 30-40. There were two girls under 5 (Eunice and ?),1 young woman age 20-30 (Marie), and one older woman, 30-40.
By 1850 John was living in Wesleyville, Harbor Creek Twp., Erie Co.,PA with his second family and the two youngest children from his firstmarriage. They went "west" in the 1850�s to Illinois and Missouri, butby 1862 were back in Wesleyville. He stood 6'4" tall. No death recordhas been discovered.
