     Josie Caroline Millslagle was born on 28 March 1876 in Illinois.^1,2,3 She was the daughter of (?) Millslagle and (?) Kansas.¹ Josie married Ross L Porter circa 1894. He was 24 and she was 18.^1,4 Josie and Ross had at least 2 children. These children are Vena and Gladys.
          Ross, age 50, and Josie, age 43, were enumerated on the 1920 Federal Census at North Plano Road in Porterville, Tulare County, California. Also enumerated in this household were two daughters, Gladys (age 22) and Vena (age 20). They own their home without a mortgage.⁵ Follow the link to see the census image.
          Ross, age 60, and Josie, age 54, were enumerated on the 1930 Federal Census at Old Plano Road in Porterville Township, Tulare County, California. Also enumerated in this household was their daughter, Gladys (age 33). They own their farm which was valued at $3000. They do not have a radio. Ross is not a military veteran.⁶ Josie worked as a grader at a fruit packing house. She was unemployed on April 1st.⁶ Follow the link to see the census image.
          Josie died on 9 August 1958 in Tulare County, California.¹ She was 82 years old.
