J. Baumgardner was born circa 1798 in Pennsylvania.1
J. married R. (?).2
J. and R. had at least 7 children. These children are M., R. A., N., Eliza, T. or L., S. and C..
J., age 62, and R., age 42, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census in Lithopolis, Hardin County, Iowa. Also enumerated in this household were several children: M. (an 18 year-old male), R.A. (a 17 year-old female), N. (a 12 year-old male), E. (a 10 year-old female, believed to be Eliza), T. or L. (an 8 year-old male), S. (a 6 year-old female), and C. (a 7 month old male). I am not sure that this is the correct family. The enumerator only listed first initial and Eliza is younger than I would expect (at age 10 in the 1860 census she would have only been 16 when she had Thomas in 1866.).2
J. worked as a farmer. According to the 1860 census, his real estate was worth $800 and his personal property was worth $200.2
