     Johannes Ambuul was born in 1817 in Zijpe, Noord Holland, Netherlands.¹ Johannes married Aaltje Van Der Veen on 15 August 1844.¹ Johannes and Aaltje had at least 2 children. These children are Wilem and Saakje.¹ Aaltje died in 1849, leaving Johannes a widower.¹ Johannes married Neeltje Oudendijk.¹ Johannes and Neeltje had at least 6 children. These children are Wiebe, Trijntje, Pieter, Willem, Jannetje and Pietertje.¹
          Johannes, age 40, and Neeltje, age 30, were enumerated on the 1860 Federal Census in Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Catharina (age 6), Willem (age 5), Jannetje (age 3), and Pietertje (age 1). Also living with this family was Jean Nieummkinize.           John, age 52, and Nelly, age 40, were enumerated on the 1870 Federal Census for the Calumet Post Office in Hyde Park, Cook County, Illinois. Also enumerated in this household were their children: Catharina (age 15), William (age 14), Jane (age 12), and Peterje (age 11). Jan[?] Oudendike (female age 70) is also living in their household.
