     John H. Dekker was born on 27 February 1885.2 He was the son of Hendrik H. Dekker and Christina Vinke.1 John married Agatha P. Van den Berg, daughter of Dirk Adriaan Van Den Berg and Pieternella Ton, on 29 November 1907.1 John and Agatha had at least 2 children. These children have not been entered into this database. They were:

  • John R. (9 Apr 1914 - 12 Nov 1971).

          Due to a need for men to serve during World War I, the United States instituted a draft. With no end in sight for World War I, the United States instituted its third and final draft registration. It included all men who were between the ages of 18 and 21, and 31 to 45 years of age. This added younger men than the previous registrations, those who were born between September 12, 1897 and September 12, 1900; and added an older group of men, born between September 12, 1873 and September 12, 1888. John filled out a draft card on 12 September 1918 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. He was described as having a medium height and a medium build. He had blue eyes and light colored hair. His nearest relative was his wife, Agatha.2 John was living at 10648 Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.2 John worked as an owner of the business Dekker Bros. The address was further down the street at 10645 Michigan Avenue.2 John died on 4 June 1977.1 He was 92 old.
