      Senator John Conover Ten Eyck was born on 12-Mar-1814 at Freehold, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He was the son of William Ten Eyck and Leah Conover. John married Julia Gadsby, daughter of John Gadsby and Providence Norris, on 10-Jun-1845 at Washington, District of Columbia. Senator John Conover Ten Eyck died on 24-Aug-1879 at Burlington County, New Jersey, at age 65. John was buried at Saint Andrew's Cemetery, Mount Holly, Burlington County, New Jersey.
      He held the position of Prosecutor of the Pleas between 1839 and 1849 at Burlington County, New Jersey. He held the position of U. S. Senator from New Jersey between 2-Mar-1859 and 3-Mar-1865.





TEN EYCK, John Conover, a Senator from New Jersey; born in Freehold, Monmouth County, N.J., March 12, 1814; completed preparatory studies under private tutors; studied law; admitted to the bar in 1835 and commenced practice in Burlington, N.J; prosecuting attorney for Burlington County 1839-1849; delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1844; elected as a Republican to the United States Senate and served from March 4, 1859, to March 3, 1865; unsuccessful candidate for reelection; appointed a member of a commission to revise the New Jersey constitution in 1875, and for a time was president of the commission; died in Mount Holly, N.J., August 24, 1879; interment in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.
