      Rebecca Marrie Conover was born on 3-Apr-1775. She was the daughter of Samuel Covenhoven and Anna Patten. Rebecca Marrie Conover was baptized at Mohawk Valley Reformed Dutch Church. Rebecca married John Searle Harris, son of Daniel Harris and Dorothy Rude, on 24-Jan-1794.
     

We have found John C. Harris in the 1800 Census records of Kortright, Delaware Co., NY. Also, in the same area are Daniel Harris m. Dorothy Rude and other Harris individuals who by their names appear to be his sons. It would seem therefore, that John C. Harris in Kortright is probably his son, John Seale Harris. This places John C. Harris in the same vicinity as Samuel Covenhoven/Conover of the Albany area whom we believe to be the father of Rebecca Covenhoven. Samuel Conover apparently died in Trafalgar Twp. in 1827. Another interesting coincidence that came to light was the family of Joseph Fish and Phebe Butt were also found on the 1800 Kortright census. Two of their sons married two of John C. Harris' daughters. The naming patterns of the children of John C. Harris and Rebecca Covenhoven are lending further support to what we know so far. It's looking very promising and we hope to find further records. I do believe the information I found on the IGI regarding the Harris family is incorrect when it states John Searle Harris and Rebecca Covenhoven married at Preston, CT. Kortright or Albany are more likely locations.
