Alfred Johan JOHNSON,¹ son of Johannes OLSSON and Christina OLSDOTTER, was born on 4 Aug 1863 in Sävbäcken, Floda, Södermanland, Sweden,^² died on 28 Feb 1951 in Jamestown, NY ^² at age 87, and was buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. The cause of his death was heart ailment.

General Notes: Alfred Johan emigrated to America from Julita Parish in March 1882 and his destination was listed as Warren. He lived in Chicago for awhile where he was married and then he returned to Pennsylvania and was a farmer in Scandia. He got a job with an electrical company in Warren and was involved in an accident injuring his left arm which had to be amputated. He moved to Jamestown in 1908 and was employed by the Elite Furniture Co. as a cabinet maker and watchman and he attended the Zion Mission Covenant Church.

Alfred married Johanna "Jennie" JOHNSON,³ daughter of Pehr JOHNSSON and Margareta Christina PLANTIN, on 7 Mar 1895 in Chicago, IL. Johanna was born on 28 Nov 1867 in Norra Strö, Kristianstad, Sweden,^⁴ died on 15 Sep 1940 in Jamestown, NY ^² at age 72, and was buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. The cause of her death was Congestive failure. They had five children: Edolph Nathan, Harold Walfred, Merritt Leonard, Viking Raymond, and Florence Jeanette.

Edolph Nathan JOHNSON ² was born on 30 Dec 1895 in Chicago, IL,^⁵ died on 3 Jan 1982 in Jamestown, NY at age 86, and was buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.

General Notes: Nathan was an army veteran of World War l and he was employed for 50 years at the Art Metal Co. from 1920-1970 when he retired. He was a member of the Zion Covenant Church where he was the church treasurer, served on the board of trustees and sang in the choir. Also he was a member of Earl Morley Barracks Veterans of World War l, AARP, and served on the board of directors of the Cerebral Palsy Association.

Edolph married Mildred E. CARLSON, daughter of Eric CARLSON and Hannah SANDBERG, on 15 Aug 1923 in Jamestown, NY. Mildred was born on 13 Apr 1901 in Jamestown, NY,^² died on 20 May 1978 in Jamestown, NY ^² at age 77, and was buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. The cause of her death was Possible hepatic coma. They had four children: Robert, Richard W., Dorothy Louise, and Gordon Sherwood.

Harold Walfred JOHNSON was born on 18 Mar 1897 in Chicago, IL,^⁶ died on 2 Jul 1970 in Jamestown, NY ^² at age 73, and was buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.

General Notes: Harold was an army veteran of World War l and was employed at the Art metal Co. retiring in 1966. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union and the Ingjald lodge, IOV.

Harold married Katherine H. KELLER, daughter of John KELLER and CHRISTINA, on 2 Jul 1921 in Jamestown, NY. Katherine was born on 10 Jun 1898 in Jamestown, NY,^² died on 10 May 1968 in Jamestown, NY ^² at age 69, and was buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. The cause of her death was Respitory failure. They had two children: Audrey J. and Harold William.

Merritt Leonard JOHNSON was born on 16 Jun 1900 in Scandia, PA,^⁶ died on 7 Jan 1970 in San Diego, CA ^² at age 69, and was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, San Diego, CA.

General Notes: Merritt at the age of three was involved in a crippling accident when a horse fell on his leg and had a noticeable limp for the rest of his life. He was a Confirmand of the Zion Mission Covenant Church and was a graduate of Jamestown High School in 1918. He was in the newspaper business all of his life starting as a telegraph operator for the Jamestown Morning Post in 1924and then he went to Utica, NY in 1926 where he became a managing editor for the Observer Dispatch. In 1944 he went to Chicago where he was a copy desk chief for the Chicago Daily News. He retired in 1965 and settled in San Diego, CA.

Merritt married Beatrice Elizabeth COLEGROVE, daughter of William COLEGROVE and Unknown, on 16 Jul 1928 in Rochester, NY. Beatrice was born in 1904 in New York and died on 20 Jan 1965 at age 61. They had one son: Rodney.

Merritt next married Ann RIDDELL on 31 Oct 1935. Ann was born on 15 Sep 1904 and died in Oct 1977 in Crete, Ill ^⁶ at age 73. They had one son: David.

Viking Raymond JOHNSON ⁷ was born on 5 Mar 1903 in Scandia, PA,^⁸ died on 20 Feb 1989 in Girard, OH ^⁴ at age 85, and was buried in Belmont Park Cemetery, Girard, OH. The cause of his death was Cardiac Arrest and Coronary Artery Disease.

General Notes: Viking was born on his fathers farm near Scandia Pennsylvania March 5, 1903. He was baptized in the Scandia Church that July. The family moved to nearby Warren in 1906 and was listed in the Jamestown New York City Directory in 1909. He was a confirmand of the Swedish Mission Covenant Church in Jamestown. He was listed as a machine operater in the 1920 Jamestown City Directory. Viking enlisted in the Navy in 1921 and served four years as a radio operator on a destroyer. After leaving the navy he worked as an estimator for the Art Metal Company and the Watson Manufacuring Co. in Jamestown.
On June 9 1928 He married Ardis Nelson and they lived in Jamestown until 1936 when they moved to Youngstown, Ohio when he started working for the General Fireproofing Company as a cost estimator. He retired from this company in 1969 with thirty three years of service. They moved to Girard, Ohio in 1960 and lived there the remainder of their years. They were active members of the Churchhill Methodist Church and they were buried in Belmont Park cemetery.

Viking married Ardis Evelyn Olive NELSON,⁷ daughter of Frank Oscar NELSON and Anna Olivia ENGMAN, on 9 Jun 1928 in Jamestown, NY. Ardis was born on 24 Nov 1908 in Jamestown, NY,^⁹ died on 25 May 1994 in Girard, OH ^¹⁰ at age 85, and was buried in Belmont Park Cemetery, Girard, OH. The cause of her death was Alzheimers Disease and Pneumonia. They had two children: Donald Raymond and Frederick Gordon.

Florence Jeanette JOHNSON was born on 13 Nov 1905 in Warren, PA,^² died on 6 Feb 1982 in Jamestown, NY ^² at age 76, and was buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. The cause of her death was Myicardial Infarction.

General Notes: Florence was a confirmand of Swedish Mission Church and a graduate of Jamestown High School in 1923. She was employed as a secretary for Jamestown Finishes, and for two City mayors, Dunn and Whitehead. She was a charter member of Marvin Community House and a 35 year member of Jamestown Business and Professional Women's Club.

Florence married William O. ANDERSON, son of William ANDERSON and Ellen KRAFT, on 30 Jul 1927 in Jamestown, NY. William was born on 30 Dec 1905 in Buffalo, NY,^² died on 21 Mar 1973 in Jamestown, NY ^² at age 67, and was buried in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY. The cause of his death was Ruptured Theracic Aneurysm.
