A Brief Letter Discussing the I Haplogroup ResultsHi Warren Some rushed comments... 1. I haplotypes. First thing is to make sure you have seen *the* webpage about I haplotypes, which Ken Nordtvedt made: See especially his latest raw information:

2. Within I haplotype, I don't see
any obvious sign of the x and y cluster folk. The main I group
seems to be:
These look to be I1a - probably originally brought to Ireland by someone of Northern European descent (Denmark, Frisia etc). C75E5(R1b), F33T5(I1a) and N5PNV do not seem related to this group at all. 3. Make sure that apart from searching on ysearch, you also try... 4. I am very interested in this person...
I presume he is Mr Poore, who only has 25 markers showing on Ysearch (DSDTB)? We have a very close match in the Maclea/Livingston DNA project and we know of others in Irish and Scottish families. It appears to be a fairly compact dynasty. We have been studying this "cluster" and we've discovered using the so-called Kittler test that the normal-looking DYS385=11-14, actually hides the fact that they are in the opposite position to normal R1b people.

...could be a cousin who has had a single step mutation at DYS385 11-14->14-14 This is something people are learning happens more often than people knew. It is difficult to be sure about any of the others being related to each other. 12 markers is too inaccurate and many of the possible matches only have 12 markers. 6.
