About Dr Pleasant Washington Spear:
Ordained Minister of the Gospel, the Baptist Church of Christ at Liberty, Montgomery Co, Al "Robertson's
Recollections of the Early Families of Montgomeryunty and Their Families", 1892, pages 100 and 101:
"Dr P W Spear was another of these early settlers. He first lived in the vicinity of Robertson's Roads.
He was a remarkably fine looking young man, and was very popular among his associates. He first married
a Miss Gregory, sister of Buck Gregory, who was sheriff of Montgomeryunty at a very early day. His wife
lived only a few years. After a number of years, he married a daughter of Hooper Caffery, and by this
marriage he had several children. He was at one time in possession of a pretty property, but was unfortunate
and lost the greater part of it. He then commenced to study medicine and soon became a very popular
and successful practicing physician, and by that means made a very comfortable support for his family.
Dr Spear was a man who commanded the respect of his fellow men all the days of his life. He lived to
an extreme old age and gently passed away."
