Notes for Lena Lois (Spouse 1)
Grandma Lena was a tall large woman. She loved to play bingo. She would take me sometimes to St. Bonifest on Rte 8, the only problem was she never won when she took me. She told me I was her little jinks. Somewhere my mother has photos of a trip we took to Thousand Islands in Canada, with both of my Grandmothers Lottie and Lena. She worked at Bycrus Iron Works for many years and lived on 2nd and Sassafras in a basement apartment. She raised the twins and Grandpa had the rest of the children. But over the years Robert and some of the other children moved in with her. Grandpa Eugene and Grandma Lena never got a divorce. But from what family stories I could find they were separated off and on their whole marriage till after the twins were born it became permanent separation. They fought like Cats and Dogs I was told. Grandma also tried to commit suicide when she was pregnant with the twins, it is said she drank a bottle of lye. It did damage to her liver, but she survived.
