Cora Cordelia Greene Goodrich was born February 27, 1867 at Adams Center, New York, and died in this village Saturday nightFebruary 25, 1911.
With her father's family she moved to near Cameron in 1872. Here she became the wife of John I. Goodrich December 25, 1882. In 1886 she and her husband were baptized and became members of the Seventh-day Baptist church of this place, and always to the time of her death she remained a faithful, consistent member. In 1890 she and her husband moved to this place where her home had been since that time.
For about twenty-six years she had been more or less troubled with a goiter, and when a few days before she died she was given a recipe for a remedy she immediately gave it a trial. Soon after the first application she complained of its evil effects but no serious thot was given to the matter. She went to church as usual Saturday night and on the way home she said to her husband she was not able to walk all the way home so they stopped in Gowen's store where she soon became unconscious and in a short time, and before she could be taken to her home, her spirit passed into the Great Beyond. In order that the cause of death might be investigated, and upon the request of her husband and attending physician, the coronor was called and an inquest held Monday morning. The jury--A.T. Jones, E. G. McProud, Geo. S. Mayo, H. L. Prentice, H. E. Davis and W. G. Rood, heard the evidence and found that the cause of her death was unknown and that no blame could possibly be attached to anyone, that the medicine given was such as it is usually given in such cases, that Mrs. Goodrich seemed to be peculiarly susceptable to the influence of the medicine given.
Mrs. Goodrich, Cora, as she was familiarly called, was of a sunny, genial disposition and made friends with all. Tho she was retiring in her religious life yet the church of which she was a member will miss her and her place will be hard to fill. She was devoted mother, one who was ever ready to help in all times of need and was a true and trusted friend.
She leaves to mourn her departure a husband, six, sons and one daughter, her father and one brother.
Funeral services were held from the Seventh day Baptist church Tuesday conducted by her pastor, Rev. Geo. B. Shaw, assisted by Rev. Oscar Babcock, the beautiful music being furnished by a mixed quartet. The casket was covered with flowers, the gifts of loving friends. And so she has gone from us but to a far better home.
