ESTHER MAE BARTHEL BROWN, age 88, born July 18, 1916 in Kansas City, Missouri died Tuesday, January 25, 2005 in Missouri City, Texas. She was a graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado in 1937. Mrs. Brown worked as a nurse, taking time off to raise her family and worked in family businesses. After 20 years she returned to nursing and retired in 1982. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband J. Neilson Brown in August of 2002, brothers George Barthel, Irvin Barthel and Milton Barthel and sister Eleanor Pontow and four siblings she never knew. Mrs. Brown is survived by sons Neil A. Brown of Aurora, Colorado, The Rev. Marshall J. Brown of Manning, Iowa, Ervin B. Brown, M.D. of Houston, Texas and Marvin L. Brown of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren Paul Brown of Manning, Iowa, Sarah Groth of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Brian, Caitlin and Matthew Burtis of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
