Born 3/25/1901 at the family farm near Nashua, MN.  Farmed quite successfully there until his retirement in 1968.  Active in various local orchestras (trumpet) in the 1920's, on township board, and in church affairs. Named Minnesota's Red River Valley Farmer of the Year in 1957.

Married 6/24/1929 to Grace Edna Taylor, daughter of Wm. John and Rose Hannah Lenton Taylor of Perham MN.  She taught school in Tintah until their marriage.  They lived on the Doty family farm  (wintering in AZ 1965-1990) until they sold it and moved to a retirement home in Glenwood, MN in 1990.   Grace Died Oct. 8, 1995.  Buried at Sauk Centre.
