Welcome to the Gillich - McLaren family genealogy homepage.  On the following pages you will find the family history of my parents, the Gillichs and my wife's parents, the McLarens. I began my research over twenty-five years ago and have been doing it as my spare time permits. I start and stop, I jump from one family to another, I lose some of my data and start over, I hit a wall and stop again, I've been helped and I have helped others. I wouldn't change anything. I've enjoyed it! After working many years on my family genealogy, I thought I'd share what I've found.

Researching one's family is a collaboritive approach, starting with the immediate family members and then over the years you find new family and friends that contribute information. My journey has been exactly that. I have found relatives that I would never have met if I hadn't been researching my family history. To all the people who have helped me and who have contributed to my family research - Thank You.

Feel free to browse the information I have posted here. I have over 10,000 names in my data base between the families shown here. I have attempted to confirm as much of my information whenever possible however some of it was taken as 'face value' and has yet to be confirmed. I'm certain there are errors or omissions in the data. Given the volume of information, it's easy to either, not be aware of the errors or to have lost track of what has been checked and what hasn't. When I first started researching many years ago, I didn't write down all the details that I should have. Important details such as the sources of information were overlooked in the excitement that I actually found a 'connection'. I've attempted to fix this as best as I could but with the volumes of information I have compiled, it is difficult to go back to some of that earlier information and recapture those details.

Researching one's family history is a never-ending project. There is always 'one more' name to find, one more 'mystery' to solve. The further back one goes the more challenging it becomes. The information on this website is a "work in progress". If you find we share common relatives please feel free to contact me. If you find any errors or omissions please let me know so that the information can be corrected in future updates to this website. I am hopeful this website will grow as I get more organized with my information and as new information comes my way. So please come back every so often to see if any new information has been added.

I have broken down my family's genealogy into the paternal and maternal branches of my parents and my wife parents. I have provided an ancestral overview for each of the principal families. These overviews show the direct ancestral relations only and do not show the collateral families (ie: the children of Aunts & Uncles or Great Aunts & Uncles). I will add more as I continue to develop this webiste.
