Goodspeed History quote:
Captain George E. Gaddy was organizing a company of Home Guards on Long Creek in 1864; it was mustered in at Fayetteville, Arkansas on 28 February 1864. In April 1864 Capatin George E. Gaddy, Federal, encountered Captain McFarland on Race Track Hollow and Lieutenant Jesse Patty, Federal, was killed. 8 June 1964 Captain Gaddy reported at Berryvile, Arkansas with his company where they evacuated Berryville to re-inforce Company G at Easley's Ferry and thus ended the Federal occupation of Carroll County, Arkansas.
The files of Pauline Miller, a g-granddaughter of George E. Gaddy, state that Gaddy's company had been organized as a unit of Arkansas Home Guard and was later reorganized as Company M, 73rd Regiment Missouri Enrolled Militia. The following records are from an article by Pauline published in The Carroll County Historical Quarterly.
