Marge Duffy VirgulakParents (as stated on death certificate - Michael DUNN and Mary GILMAN, d. October 14, 1939, 14 Woodycrest Ave. Bronx, NY, buried in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.( Story is she immigrated in the Year 1888, right before the big blizzard of 1888. She came through Castle Garden, but not sure if there are any records of her, her brother-in-law, Christopher THOMPSON, was a fireman on a boat and picked her up off the ship before it docked.) She married Thomas Francis DUFFY in 1896. They had 3 children, Mary Elizabeth, Thomas Francis (my grandfather) and Beatrice Marion.

I do know that Mary, James and Elizabeth Dunn were brother and sisters. My confusion comes in with the names of their parents given on their respective death certificates. I would be inclined to believe James' , since he was the first to die, (thinking his sisters were alive to give the right information) but his birth date is listed as not known on his death certificate, I would assume if a family member gave the information, they would have known. While Elizabeth's information was probably given by one of her daughters, I am leaning toward the information given on Mary Dunn Thompson's death certificate as being correct because her husband is listed as giving the information, and it is more detailed then the other two. Also, I notice that no children of Mary and Christopher Thompson's is name Michael, but Joseph is a common name through out the family. I am also assuming that Katherine and Eliza Dooley were sisters to Mary Dooley (Mary, James and Elizabeth's mother).

One theory is the Arnold EGGERS ancestors were Dutch, coming over with William of Orange, however, I also gather that the names EGAR/EGARS were at one time concentrated in Co. Kerry. To confuse the issue, I have seen the EGGERS name variously spelt as EGAR, EGARS, EGGAR, EGGARS.

ELGEE, Caroline
Caroline died in 1909
Maureen (in Tasmania)was tried and convicted at Kings Co for arson. She was sentenced to 7 years transportation and arrived in Tasmania in 1851. She was a housemaid and 24 years old when she arrived. She was R.C. and could not read or write. Her native place was Co Dublin and she stated she had a mother Richard? at Kings Co.
She married another convict William Brittain from Bedfordshire in 1853 and had ten children, one of whom became a well known Baptist Minister (he had been a Catholic altar boy as a child).
Her name has been shown on various records as ALGER, ELGER and ELDER but her convict record says ELGEE. The only other reference I have found to this name has been on the IGI and that is the family of Oscar Wilde's mother Jane Frances Elgee. I can't imagine my convict being connected to this family though./td>

FARRELL, Fred & Judy BraunsTrying to find out where my Farrells who settled in Newark, NJ are from in Ireland. I've ruled out Longford. The Heritage Center there has nothing on my line. Roscommon records do not go back far enough in some of the parishes so that is still a possibility. I believe one of my Farrells married someone from Kilkenny and so that is always a maybe Last but not least, older relatives that myself claim they remember ancestors talking about County Cork but they can't remember where.

Michael Farrell married to a Catherine Moore had at least one son, Thomas born about 1823. Then a Michael Farrell (could be the same one) had a son Phillip born between 1824 and 1830 and a son Lawrence born about 1825-1828 with a wife, Sara

His siblings were Bridget (b. 1865), Joseph (b. 1867), Mary, Alice Catherine, Ann, John and Catherine. Martin spent one year in a seminary in France before leaving it to return home to Borris to say goodbye to his family before leaving next morning to catch a boat to America to the family of a fellow seminarian. His family was never able to contact him again, despite many attempts. Martin returned to Ireland at least once to locate them but was given the wrong addresses in Australia. The remainder of Martin's family emigrated shortly after him to Australia, settling in both Sydney and Brisbane. His 83 year old nephew would dearly like contact to find out how Martin fared in America, and if he had family. Please contact me if you can help - time is running away
