Speculation on who might be the parents of James Peva/Peavey
compiled by June Peavey

Reviewing the whole thing there was a mass infusion of Peavey's around 1802-1806 to the State of ME from NH.  They settled in your area in Kennebec County,ME.  This is the family of Samuel Peavey and Alice Mills.

According to a descendant, Sam and Alice had 12 sons all with Bible names.  There was a William who came with them so I assumed him to be also a son.(Do you fit in here?  Timing is right or not?)

We are missing some of these Bible named sons.(James is a Bible name and you are in the correct area in the proper time frame.

According to the 30 year old letter from elderly Sarah Peavey Small from Clinton,Me.  Apparently they were trying to piece the puzzle together also.  She never told me who we was.  She just said, "We have found that Samuel came to Vienna, Me and bought an iron forge and at least four sons came here with him. Samuel Jr, our Stephen, Joseph who invented the logging tool may be another David of Waterville and we are still searching for the other brother.

Well!  I proved she was incorrect with David of Waterville.  He was my ancestor and his death certificate and his family stories all said her was born in Strafford, NH in 1812.  This is the time Samuel and Alice were in Me still having Sarah in 1810.  That means she is now looking for 2 more missing older brother born in NH who came to ME about 1805?

I found one of those brothers was in fact named Jacob from Swansville,Me.

James Peva born 1781 fits to be that missing son in the correct time in the correct place. Descendants were heavy in the Masonic lodge and it was mentioned in your descendants also. Most listing are of Peavey or peavy. Your listing was Pevee like road preacher group.

James Peve born 1781 fits to be missing son  of John Sr and Lois Colbath and missing brother of  Dudley named  James.  One older son is missing from the 1800 census and is missing from the town of Strafford, as if he moved away.  Your James would have been 23 years old in 1800 so no doubt was married with kids by then.  Question is how to prove any of these fitable hypotheses. These were listed as Peavey-Pevey

Many Road preacher possibilities and they are the Pevee spelled ones.
