[3169] History of the Lands and Their Owners in Galloway, FHL #941.49 H2m 1994, v 2, p 307 states: "After his accession to the title [Alexander Gordon, fifth Viscount Kenmure] the Penninghame property seems to have passed to various owners...Then Martin M'Ghie (M'Kie) is styled of Penninghame, when fined L600 Scots for his adherence to the Covenant. (after 26 May 1664) But we are inclined to think that both of those named held more by wadsets than real possession." The editors have chosen to place Martin in this family; however, it needs more research.
