MEXICAN WAR 1846-1848

Darius Thomas Jean Private Co. C, 1st Battalion Mississippi Rifles 1847, Mexican War - War Department records show that Thomas D. Jean of Capt. Anderson's Co. C, 1st Battalion, Mississippi Rifles was enrolled October 30, 1847; mustered in on December 8, 1847 at Hernando, DeSoto County, Mississippi; and mustered out of the company June 18, 1848 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. The rolls do not show the soldier absent except as follows: February 29 and April 30, 1848. He was a cook in a military hospital at Tampico, Mexico. Company muster out roll dated June 28, 1848 shows him sick.

G, 3rd Arkansas Infantry, at Three Creeks, Arkansas, June 19, 1861; wounded in the face and captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, July 2, 1863; confined at Davids Island, New York, until paroled on September 8, 1863; furloughed for fifty days, September 16, 1863; dropped from the rolls for absence without leave, August 31, 1864.
Robert Mathis Jean Private Co. G, 3rd Arkansas Infantry Enlisted in Co. G, 3rd Arkansas Infantry, at Three Creeks, Arkansas, June 19, 1861; discharged for disability, April 5, 1862; reenlisted in Co. G, 3rd Arkansas Infantry at Three Creeks, Arkansas, January 19, 1863; wounded in the left thigh at Petersburg, Virginia, July 7, 1864; leg amputated; retired to Invalid Corps at Camden, Arkansas, October 15, 1864; died in Arkansas, August 11, 1897; married Malissa P. Garner; filed Arkansas pension application #584 from Little River County, July 1, 1892.

William Hopson Jean Private Co. F, 13th Regiment Georgia Cavalry Enlisted May 14, 1862, at Newnan, Georgia. Shown present on the muster roll for May and June 1863. Union prisoner of war records show that he was captured April 26, 1865, at Lick Skillit, Georgia, and paroled April 26, 1865, in the field.
John H. Jean 4th Corporal Co. B, 56th Georgia Infantry

Residence Carroll County GA; Enlisted on October 15, 1861 as a Private. He mustered into "D" Co. GA 3rd State Troops.  He was discharged on March 27, 1862.  On May 15, 1862, he mustered into "B" Co. GA 56th Infantry.  Promotions: 4th Corporal May 15, 1862.

Lewis Marion Barker Private Co. K, 56th Regiment, Georgia Infantry, Heard County, Georgia May 12, 1862. Died of pneumonia in Atlanta, Georgia hospital May 9, 1864.
George W. J. Watson 4th Corporal Co. A, 35th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia

4th Corporal, August 15, 1861. Wounded in eye, resulting in loss of sight, at 2nd Manassas, VA, August 29, 1862. Appointed 5th Sergeant August 1864. Pension records show he was captured near Richmond, VA March 1865.

Littleton Riley Jean Private Co. C, 26th Battalion, Georgia Infantry 1863-1865 Carrollton, Carroll County, Georgia; Wagoner and Teamster; captured and paroled in the field May 22, 1865 in Talladega, Alabama
John E. Wallace Lieutenant 9th Mississippi Infantry Organized at Corinth, Mississippi, in March, 1861, recruited its men in Tate, De Soto, Marshall, Tishomingo, Quitman, Lafayette, and Panola counties. After serving in Florida and fighting at Shiloh, the unit saw action in Kentucky. Later it was placed in General J.P. Anderson's, Tucker's, and Sharp's Brigade, Army of Tennessee, and fought at North Carolina. It was organized with 930 men, sustained 53 casualties at Munfordville, and lost 8 killed, 71 wounded, and 5 missing at Murfreesboro. Of the 332 engaged at Chickamauga, more than thirty percent were disabled. The regiment was briefly consolidated with the 7th Mississippi Regiment and in December, 1863, totaled 468 men and 252 arms. It surrendered with 43 officers and men

Charles David Jean U. S. Army Company K, 324th Infantry from May 1943 to June 1945.  He fought in 7 major battles and was at the taking of the Rhineland bridge. He was wounded twice and received two Purple Heart medals.
