Wesley Thomas WOODY was born on 10 May 1827. He died on 21 January 1895 at the age of 67.

NOTE: The following discussion is somewhat moot in view of the estate file of Archibald Walters. Mentioned several times is the grandchild Wesley "Woodie", son of Archibald's deceased daughter Pamelia/Pamela Woodie. Then in the list of advancements made by Archibald Walters to each of his children is the item $150.00 to Pleasant Woody. That would seem to make certain these relationships. Wesley was a son of Pamelia Walters & Pleasant Woody - his mother in turn, a daughter of Archibald Walters.

Note*: Direct evidence identifying the parents of Wesley Thomas Woody has not been discovered. Based on circumstantial evidence, Charles Owen, one of the most thorough researchers of this line, assumed that Wesley was the son of James & Selety Walters Woody. James was the youngest son of James & Lucy Woody. Since Charles made this assumption, more circumstantial evidence has been discovered. Added to Charles' evidence, this new evidence leads us to assume that Wesley was the son of Pleasant & Permelia Walters Woody. Pleasant was the son of Thomas & Sally Carter Woody & grandson of the above mentioned James & Lucy Woody. We also assume that Wesley did not live with his father after the death of his mother about 1830. He probably lived with his maternal grandparents, Archibald & Catherine Stamps Walters. The 1830 census for Archibald supports this assumption.
The most compelling evidence supporting this new assumption is as follows: James & Selety Woody had a son named Thomas, born c 1834. Thomas was enumerated with his parents in the 1850-1870 Warren Co., Ky censuses (it would be very unusual to name two surviving sons Thomas).
Census enumerations & birth/death records indicate that Wesley and his wife, Elizabeth Nancy Oliver, essentially followed the traditional naming patterns of the period. Their 1st son was William Y. Woody. The "Y" was most likely for Yancey Oliver, the father of Elizabeth. Their 1st daughter was Judith Lea, named for the mother of Elizabeth, Judith Lea Walters. Their 2nd daughter war Permelia, the name of Pleasant Woody's wife. The 2nd & 3rd sons were John Wesley & Pleasant Philmore. In 1847, Iverson B. Walters, the brother of Permelia Walters (deceased wife of Pleasant Woody) was appointed guardian for minor Westley T. Woody (Wesley was married about a month later, so he probably needed a legal guardian for his marriage bond). Wesley & Pleasant Woody were enumerated living on adjacent properties in the 1860 Logan Co., KY census. There are several more minor facts that connect Pleasant & Wesley.
