That John is the son of Jasper (and not William, as
stated in the 1953 book) is clearly
shown on the 1775 land purchase agreement. While Mrs. Waggener had the
reference, it is now understood that she had not actually seen the document,
and her researcher at the Maryland Archives did not read it either or
did not understand the implications if he did.
